March 2010

• (12th March) Re-Define Managing Director Sony Kapoor to deliver the key note address at the AIFMD cycle conference organized by Ernst & Young and MGI on Hedge Fund and Private Equity regulation.
• (15th March) Re-Define Managing Director Sony Kapoor will launch his new papers on FTTs at a Financial Transaction Tax Conference organized by the Foundation for European Progressive Studies in Brussels.
• (18th March) Re-Define Managing to speak about "Tackling Fiscal Deficits - Alternatives to Austerity" at the EU Roadmap to Recovery Conference organized by the European Economic and Social Committee. The chairs of the European Parliament's CRIS Committee and the Employment Committee and the new EU Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion will also be on the panel. 
• (22nd March) Re-Define Managing Director Sony Kapoor to speak at the ETUI Monthly Policy Forum. The title of his talk would be "Sharpening Policy Knives to fight the Resurgent Hydra" - Expanding the policy toolkit for a strategic approach to confronting economic, environmental, fiscal, financial and employment challenges in the EU. John Monks, the General Secretary of the ETUC will be the respondent.
• (23rd March) Re-Define Book Launch: Re-Define Managing Director Sony Kapoor will be the keynote speaker at an event co-hosted by the Fredrich Ebert Stiftung, the European Trade Union Institue and the Bertelsmann Foundation which will also launch a new Re-Define publication reviewing progress on financial regulation since the crisis broke out. The Re-Define book will chart the best and the most probable courses forward in reforming the financial system 
• (24th March) Re-Define Managing Director Sony Kapoor to deliver a lecture on the best way to regulate the financial system at the European Commission at the DG Internal Markets.
• (25th March) Re-Define Managing Director Sony Kapoor to testify as an expert witness before the Crisis Committee of the European Parliament. He will speak about the role that poor governance played in the financial crisis and make suggestions on how governance mechanisms can be improved at the National, European and International Level.

• (11th February) Sony Kapoor will chair a public event in Madrid being organized by the Spanish Presidency 
• (18th February) Re-Define Managing Director Sony Kapoor will be the main speaker at a closed expert workshop on Bank Levies and Financial Transaction Taxes with the Dutch Minister of Finance.

• (30 September) Re-Define Managing Director Sony Kapoor is delivering a lecture on the long term effects of the financial crisis on developing countries in Stockholm, Sweden on the 30th of September for NGOs, Trade Unions, the Swedish Foreign Ministry and the Swedish Finance Ministry.  Click here for details.
• (1 October) Re-Define Managing Director Sony Kapoor is delivering the Keynote address on the role of innovative sources of finance in helping finance the anti HIV/ADIS effort at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London on the 1st of October 2009 14:30. The seminar is sponsored by the Commonwealth Secretariat, Commonwealth Foundation, Commonwealth HIV/AIDS Action Group & The International HIV/ADIS Alliance Seminar and will be followed by a drinks reception at 18:00.
• (2-6 October) Re-Define Managing Director Sony Kapoor will be in Istanbul at the IMF and World Bank annual meetings from the 2nd of October to the 6th of October conducting several bilateral meetings with IMF and World Bank officials as well as delegations from several countries. He will also be participating in several multilateral meetings and some panel discussions.
• (7 October) Re-Define Managing Director Sony Kapoor will be speaking at the German Finance Ministry in Berlin on the 7th of October about what policies could be adopted at the national level to help reduce International Tax Avoidance and Tax Evasion. mm Click here for details
• (8 or 9 October) Re-Define Managing Director Sony Kapoor will be delivering a lecture "Challenges and Opportunities Ahead for Finance" at the German Finance Ministry. Please watch this space for details. 
• (12 October) Re-Define Managing Director Sony Kapoor will be a discussant at the High Level Roundtable on Regulating the Banking Sector - Towards a Basel III? being organized in Brussels jointly by FEPS, the Financial Times, Initiative for Policy Dialogue and Friends of Europe on the 12th of October. • (13 October) Re-Define Managing Director Sony Kapoor will be speaking at the meeting of the Finance and Economic Network in Brussels talking about the Future of Banking, Hedge Fund and Private Equity Reform and Financial Transaction Taxes to European Social Democrats and Parliamentarians from more than 20 Member States.
• (15 October) Re-Define Managing Director Sony Kapoor will be speaking at a high level invitation only Bloomberg Breakfast event "Financial Reforms - What Implications for non G-20 countries" along with DfID Chief Economist Alan Winters and the Research Director of Chatham House. Sony will be talking about the substantial work Re-Define has done on the issues of the Financial System Reforms and the long term outlook for Development Finance.
